For this assignment, my partner (Stacy Yuan) and I wanted to use AR as a medium to encourage people to come out, to be themselves, to do what they want to do and to just enjoy life the way they want. I know that this topic can be very sensitive and it is not necessary that everyone will feel better when they come out. However we still think that coming out can mean for people to just finally be able to accept who they are, and to be able to do what they want and be happy.
For our first version, we used Unity to track an image of a closet. When the image is tracked, a 3D closet will show up with a boy walking out from it. But this did not convey our message very well, so we decided to change the design.
For the final version, we created a digital collage using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. We also added an audio clip of someone talking when they are inside of the closet and that they had decided to come out. The closet was black and white until the person inside decided to come out. When that person came out, their world changed and became more colourful and cheerful.
